Updated June 5th, 2020

Dear Families,

I would like to reassure you that Presidents Elementary is committed to providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for ALL students. Every child has the right to be in a school environment that is caring and surrounds them with adults who love them. No child should feel as if they aren't as important as anyone else. Our mission is to see that students are treated equitably and afforded learning opportunities that maximize their academic and developmental growth based on the wonderful and imperfectly perfect individuals they truly are.

Events in recent days have made it even more difficult to be separated from our students. In a conversation with first grade teachers yesterday during office hours I shared that we've been robbed from what we enjoy most about our jobs... being with kids each day. That's what drives us. We miss the smiles, the silly stories, the high five & hugs and the joy of seeing them grow as learners and witnessing first-hand how they better the lives of each other through daily interactions and play.

Believe it or not, it's June and the last round of Learning Menus and printed packets will be distributed on Monday, June 8th, between 9 and noon. We will also be collecting completed packets, library books and classroom materials at this time. Learning Menus can also be accessed on our website. This will cover learning activities for the remainder of the school year. Please turn in any packets that have not been returned by Monday, June 15th.

On Thursday, June 18th, office hours will be all day, from 9 am to 7 pm, at Presidents Elementary. We will be collecting Chromebooks and passing out report cards. You may also pick up a yearbook if you pre-ordered one prior to the school closure.  The schedule for the day will be as follows:

  • *Session 1:  9:30 am - 12:00 pm à Grades K - 2nd grade, and Preschool
  • Session 2:  12:30 pm - 4:00 pm à Grades 3 & 4
  • Session 3:  4:00 pm - 7:00 pm à Grade 5 and Specialists
    • Teachers from the designated grade levels will be on site during their session.

*Note of schedule change for Session 1: Please note the changes in beginning and ending times for the preschool - 2nd grade session.  We needed to make scheduling changes to coordinate with food services.  Food services provides food delivery for all students in the district, K-8.  Due to this, we need to push back our opening to 9:30, and then pause operations from noon to 12:30 to make room for food service buses. Thank you for your flexibility.

We are asking that parents pull into the east parking lot (next to the elementary playground) and continue on through the gate to the paved playground behind the school.  We will have stations set up for collecting, sanitizing and checking in Chromebooks, as well as distributing report cards and yearbooks. We will also collect or distribute any final school or student supplies that need to be exchanged.

If you are unable to make it during the designated time slot for your child's grade level, feel free to swing by at any time of the day.  We look forward to seeing you on the 18th and saying goodbye before summer begins.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership. We have desperately missed our students and can't wait to reconnect with them in person again at Presidents Elementary. Until then, let's celebrate the opening of Phase 2 in Snohomish County.

I wanted to finish this letter with a wonderful message of hope from Arlington High School’s Flight Choir. Click here to enjoy the song, Rise Up!

Kind Regards!
