Welcome to the 2019/2020 school year!
I hope your summer was full of special memories with family and friends.  As the 2019/20 school year approaches, I reflect on my own childhood during this time of year.  My mom would take my brothers and me to Sprouse-Reitz in the family station wagon for school supplies and lunch boxes.  It’s hard to believe how fast those days fly by. When I entered kindergarten, there were five Larsen brothers getting on the bus each morning on our way to Riverview Elementary in Snohomish.  I had my Peanuts lunchbox in tow every day.  Moving ahead over 40 years, it’s great to know that energy and excitement still lives in our students with each new school year.  In fact, I’ve talked with several students recently who’ve “admitted” they’re looking forward to school beginning again.  That’s definitely a win!
I encourage you to visit our website at throughout the year to find quick links to lunch menus, bus routes, Family Access and much more. While you’re on our website, click on the “Volunteering” link and complete the Volunteer Application Form. Applications are valid through August 31st each year. We will also have a SafeVisitors station in the gym during our Welcome Back Night. Presidents will host our Welcome Back Night from 4:30-6:00pm on Tuesday, September 3rd. We look forward to seeing you there.
Although we lost a few staff members over the summer - Mr. Harpel to Stanwood, Ms. Uberti to Everett and Ms. Bobbi to retirement - we were fortunate to gain great additions to our certificated and classified staff.  Our new cohort of teachers, paras and support staff have a diverse range of experiences, education and backgrounds that will definitely strengthen our capacity to serve, support and inspire students.  The names of certificated and classified staff members new to Presidents Elementary are listed below:
  • Heather Hubbard - ASSIST Teacher
  • Shanelle Shirey - Kindergarten Teacher
  • Morgan Robinson - Fifth Grade Teacher
  • Dr. Dayna Woiwod - Behavior Intervention TOSA (PM at Presidents)
  • Robin Swain - ASSIST para
  • Elizabeth Kienzle - ASSIST para
  • Jennifer Coleman - ASSIST para
  • Alicia Norris - ASSIST para
  • Jeanine Brocker - ASSIST para
I'm excited to get the 2019/20 school year going with our new team and make wonderful things happen.  I feel honored to work with such quality people in every role of our school who commit to serving children and each other with compassionate hearts, rolled up sleeves and thoughtfulness.
